Course Description

Dr. Brad Young will teach on the Jewish background of the Gospel of John.

Biographical Details

Dr. Young Dr. Brad Young is a member of the faculty of the Graduate School of Theology at Oral Roberts University serving as Associate Professor of Judaio Christian Studies. After receiving his B.A. from ORU, Dr. Young pursued his graduate degree in early Christianity and ancient Judaism at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. During this time he lectured at the Jerusalem University College, served as Research Assistant to Dr. David Flusser, and earned two degrees, an M.A. and Ph.D. both from the Hebrew University. He was a lecturer in Comparative Religions at the Hebrew University for two years. His doctoral dissertation was published under the title, Jesus and His Jewish Parables. Dr. Young is one of the founding scholars of the Jerusalem School of Synoptic Research working closely on Gospel research with Prof. David Flusser, Dr. Robert L. Lindsey and Prof. Shmuel Safrai. In addition to teaching fulltime and speaking at seminars and conferences around the world, Dr. Young has maintained a strong commitment to research and writing. His books include, The Jewish Background to the Lord’s Prayer, Jesus and His Jewish Parables, Jesus the Jewish Theologian, Paul the Jewish Theologian, and The Parables: Jewish Tradition and Christian Interpretation. Dr. Young’s passion is studying and teaching the Yeshua presented in the Synoptic Gospels against the rich and diverse backdrop of ancient Judaism. Having lived, studied and taught in Jerusalem for ten years, Dr. Young is uniquely qualified for such a task.

Sunday, May 9th: 10:00 am to 4:00 pm (please bring your lunch)

Availability:  Open to all Jewish and Gentile believers in Yeshua (Jesus), male or female.

Prerequisites:  None

Costs:  $10 for tuition
 $14 for book = The Gospel of John, Hebrew Heritage translation

Childcare: Childcare will not be provided for this event. However, there will be live video streaming via the internet for registered participants in English and Spanish translation..
