Important Baruch HaShem Hebrew School Class Registration Information

Due to the growth of our school, we have found it necessary to revise some of our Hebrew School policies to better meet the needs of our students.  Please familiarize yourself with these changes before you register for Hebrew School.

  1. Registration open to Baruch HaShem members first.  On July 17th, registration will be open to Baruch HaShem members.  Baruch HaShem members will have until July 24th to register for Hebrew classes before we open registration to the public from July 26th - August 9th.  Registration deadline is August 9th.  Registrations will not be accepted after this date.  Please make sure you register on time.
  2. Registration open to the public. Non Baruch HaShem members may register for Hebrew School beginning July 26th.
  3. Registration deadline is August 9th.  Registrations will not be accepted after the August 9th deadline.  We will no longer accept registrations on the first day of classes.  Please send an email to the Hebrew Department (see below) before August 9th to make special arrangements if you will be out of town during registration.
  4. Registration payment. Registrations will not be accepted without full payment.  Registration forms will be disregarded if they are submitted without payment.  You may pay by check or money order.  If paying with cash, please pay the exact amount due.   Any amount paid in excess will be designated as a Hebrew School donation.
  5. Students will no longer be allowed to audit a class.  Unless the student fails and must repeat the course, students will no longer be allowed to repeat a class as an audit student.  Exceptions will be made with special permission by the Head of the Hebrew Department.
  6. The Adult Alef Bet class will be limited to 30 students.  We have found that a smaller class size is more conducive for learning a new language which allows for student participation.  Once the class is filled, applicants will be placed on a waiting list and will be notified if a seat becomes available.
  7. The Children’s Alef Bet class will be limited to 16 students.  A limited class size will give the teacher an opportunity to assess each student’s progress and provide individual student attention when needed.
  8. New Classes are being offered in Fall & Spring 2010/2011.  As a response to teacher and student feedback, we will be offering Biblical Hebrew 1 & 2 in both one and two semester classes.  The tuition fees for these courses are the same.  The difference is the amount of time it takes to complete the course.  The one semester course moves along quickly in a lecture format and does not accommodate individualized attention.  The two semester course moves at a pace that allows for students to ask in-depth questions, and receive individualized attention and tutoring if needed.
  9. Childcare services and study hall sessions are available for unsupervised children ages   0 - 11 years.  Children will not be allowed to wander the halls or the atrium area without parental supervision.  These services are offered for the children of Hebrew students only at no charge.  Parents, please pick up your children immediately after class.
