FAQ

What does Baruch HaShem mean?

Baruch HaShem literally means "Bless the Name" (of G-d). It is used as "Bless the L-rd" or "Praise the L-rd".

Can Gentiles visit your services?

Yes, absolutely! Anyone is welcome. Dress is "office casual" to "church clothes" for most people, although we do not have a dress code. Head coverings are not required.
Please let us know if you'd like someone to meet you at the door. We look forward to seeing you!

Conversion

In Messianic Judaism, Gentiles are not asked to convert to Judaism. Indeed, Paul spends a lot of time in Romans, Galatians, 2 Corinthians, and Colossians explaining that a Gentile is not required to become a Jew in order to follow Yeshua, and that a person should not seek to become a Jew if he or she were born Gentile. Both groups together are to form one NEW person. In the Temple service, many different types of instruments played together--in unison (in unity). So, when we praise G-d in unison, no matter what instrument we are, we are doing what he intended for the Body of Messiah.

In any branch of unbelieving Judaism, a Gentile must specifically renounce Jesus in order to convert to Judaism.

Where Can I Find A Messianic Congregation In My Area?

Go to www.UMJC.org and click on "Congregational Directory". Note that there are also Messianic congregations listed elsewhere on the Internet. However, you should be aware that there are a few groups that call themselves Messianic that may not be truly Messianic Jewish. Follow the scriptural example of testing any teaching by the scriptures.

Are You Charismatic?

Some of us are and some of us aren't. We do not place emphasis upon this issue, feeling that this is a personal area between a person and G-d. We choose, instead, to focus upon the Messiahship of Yeshua, a personal relationship with G-d, and working at loving one another as He loved us.

Why Do You Use L-rd And G-d?

Tradition! This is a traditional Jewish way to show respect for the holy name of G-d.

Is Your Congregation Only Jewish?

No. We are both Jewish and Gentile. Some members have both Jewish and Gentile heritage.

I am interested in Messianic Judaism, but I'm a Gentile Believer. Where is my place in a Messianic Congregation?

As far as being Gentile goes, both Jewish and Gentile believers are equal partners in Yeshua, and in a Messianic synagogue (at least, that how it's supposed to be scripturally! There may be a few congregations who do not treat Gentile believers as equals, but this is not correct.)

As a believer in Yeshua, you are permitted to celebrate all the Feasts and fasts of God. You should not seek convert to Judaism (see "Conversion" above).

Do The Scriptures Speak Of Two Messiahs?

It is still a widely held belief in the Orthodox Jewish community that there will be two Messiahs -- a Messiah son of Joseph who will come as the suffering servant, and the Messiah son of David who will come as the conquering king. But actually, this is a later development in Judaism. The body of works from the Qumram community suggest they believed that one Messiah would fulfill both roles.

We believe Yeshua came as G-d in the flesh, fully man and fully G-d. We believe He came and walked on this earth, died for our sins, resurrected, ascended to heaven, and He will come again.

Where can I buy Judaica?

If you're in the Dallas area, our Judaica shop has an extensive inventory of Judaica. Check out the Judaica shop hours.

Blessed is He who comes in the name of the L-rd
